Top Tips for Staying Secure on Facebook

•Only Friend people you know.

•Create a strong password and use it only for Facebook.

•Don’t share your password.

•Change your password often.

•Share your personal information only with people and companies that need it.

•Log into Facebook only ONCE each session. If it looks like Facebook is asking you to log in a second time, don’t. Facebook will never ask you to log back in.

•Use a one-time password when using someone else’s computer, or when you’re using a public internet connection such as free public Wi-Fi at your local coffee shop.

•Log out of Facebook after using someone else’s computer or when the computer you're using is shared with others.

•Only download apps from sites you trust.

•Understand exactly what information that apps you have installed have access to.

•Keep your anti-virus software updated.

•Keep your browser and other applications up to date.

•Don’t paste script (code) into your web browser.

•Beware of “goofy” posts from anyone—even Friends. If it looks like something your Friend wouldn’t post, don’t click on it.

•Remember that scammers might hack your Friends’ accounts and send links from their accounts. Beware of enticing links coming from your Friends.

•Use Facebook’s security and privacy testing tools to check your account.

•Use Facebook’s Bug Bounty Program to responsibly report security bugs.

•Use Facebook’s reporting feature to report scams, malicious apps, creeps, and bullies.
