Want the latest and greatest tool for testing your Facebook security?

Go to https://www.facebook.com/help/securitycheckup and click START SECURITY CHECKUP.

The SECURITY CHECKUP tool will log you out of unused apps, set up login alerts, and show you how to protect your password. It’s also a work in progress. As of January, 2016, the SECURITY CHECKUP tool works only on desktop computers, laptops, and Android mobile devices; however, an iPhone version is expected soon.

Testing Privacy

The privacy-testing tool is an awesome way to see what privacy settings you have in place.

On a desktop or laptop computer:

•Click the down-pointing triangle at the far right of the Facebook menu bar.

•Click SETTINGS on the drop-down menu.

•Select PRIVACY in the left pane.

•Click on PRIVACY CHECKUP in the right pane, next to REVIEW THE ESSENTIALS.

Facebook will take you through a tutorial explaining the various privacy settings.

While many people tend to skip tutorials, in this case it’s really worth taking the time to make sure you understand how to use the privacy settings in your Facebook account. You can manage and see who has access to your photos, Likes, birthday, phone number, education and work history. You can also review the privacy settings for your posts and apps. At the end of the privacy checkup you can learn even more about privacy in general on Facebook. It’s worth taking the time to do this.
